How To Practice Gratitude

Practicing gratitude is a life changing habit. It will always influence positively on every sphere of life. The more we appreciate the situations and possessions in our life, the more we attract great things in our life. Generally a person attracts the things on which he is focused upon. So beware that you are not wasting your time and energy in discussing negative and stressful situations in our life. One should always learn to shift his focus from negative to positive.

It`s very important to start and end a day in a state of gratitude. First ten minutes of the day should be spent in thanking God for the amazing people and things he has put in your life. In this way you are focusing your attention and energy on the blessings of your life.

Most of the times we tend to ignore the small things in our lives. But we should learn to be thankful for every simple pleasure or blessing. Consistent gratitude can change a lot in the life of an individual. It shifts the focus of an individual from what he lacks to what he already owns. A thankful attitude towards life makes a person happy, strengthens his relationships, improves health and reduces anxiety. According to a recent research, a thankful attitude not only improves your physical and spiritual health but also helps to achieve professional goals.

We should try to find a positive perspective in every adverse situation. When the things don`t go as we want, remember that each difficulty carries the seeds of equally great benefit.

This principle also works with the people around you, there are times when you are upset with a friend, relative or a coworker. The best thing you can do is to find positive traits in that person and thank God for his presence in your life. It takes a time but your thankful attitude towards a person or a situation do bring positive results.

I would recommend you to maintain gratitude journal. This practice is becoming more and more popular due to its amazing results. A gratitude journal is a tool which helps a person to focus his attention on the things he is thankful for. It is a good habit to write down at least five things a day for which we are grateful for.

There are many traits which a person needs to cultivate in his personality for maintaining a positive attitude towards life and habit of gratitude is one of the most important of them.
