The New Education of "Do-It-Yourself" on the Internet

I'm one of the reasonably old guys in the world right now who normally resists the changes of modern day. For me, the information boom created by the internet is just fantastic. Do-it-yourself has now a larger meaning. I have found information that my doctor didn't know that helped me heal. I printed it out and gave it to him. Now before I go see a doctor I thoroughly check the internet information pool so I can either find my own answers or at least be knowledgeable enough to ask the doctor the right questions.
We can now easily research the benefits and harmful aspects of various foods so we can create our own diet. With all the do-it-yourself cooking recipes online we can cook that food in a variety of ways.
Obviously one of the great perks of our internet is we can shop. Now we can shop for knowledge, and it's free of charge. With this knowledge we can save tons of money and do-it-ourselves. It has always been far cheaper to do things ourselves but hopefully we've been honest with ourselves to admit we don't know how to do a lot of different things. With instant instruction online that has changed. The gift of creativity has been given. We can do-it-ourselves now and get all the benefits. Saving money is one and it's a big one.
A bigger benefit is the feeling of getting it done and getting it done well. Pride in our work has always been a rush. It really is what makes life great. There is another article (many) that can be written about the feelings associated with "having" and "doing". We as a people put a lot of weight in "having". My truth is, "doing" is what life is all about. What we did, what we are doing, and what we will do defines our life. Do-it-yourself.
I can't possibly list all the things now we can do with this expanded knowledge system we created. We can expand our own knowledge in any direction in a very short time. I truly feel this sharing of knowledge is helping to make the entire world smarter. I know there is a negative aspect to this sharing of knowledge. So is life. The great things provided by the do-it-yourself.knowledge on the internet is one of the greatest contributions of our day. Let's embrace this gift and use it daily for our own "self improvement"
I love the fun of the do-it-yourself revolution. Let's continue to grow and get online and learn to do the things we've been paying others a fortune to do for us. Nothing is sacred here. We can learn anything ourselves and grow. It IS about self improvement but in a fantastic, fun, creative way. The limits of what we can do have been removed. All we need now is the desire. Let's get online and DO-IT-OURSELVES.
