Taking Responsibility for Your Actions

We all make mistakes that we don't want to admit. It happens all the time that even the smallest mistakes you have done seem like terrible disasters. Your subconscious builds guilt up in your mind when things don't happen the way you wanted them to go. You feel guilty, not because it's your mistake, but your mind insists that it is.

On one hand, you might start feeling bad for things that did not happen to you or mistakes that were not yours to blame and on the other hand, your mind tries to bury the guilt of the mistakes that you have done by coming up with excuses. At some point, your mind tells you that it was not your fault to begin with.

But the feeling that the fault is not yours will never make you try to avoid the problem. You are a part of that problem whether you caused it or not.

The feeling that the responsibility should not fall on you alone enlarges with the depth of the problem. A scapegoat can always be found or manipulated when you are at fault. The scapegoat can be a person that you blame your mistake on or an excuse that you use to avoid taking responsibility of your action.

For example, when you are sleepy and you are asked to do something. If the task you are asked to make is too big for your lack of attention, then your mind will tell you that the responsibility will not fall on you, but it will fall on the person who asked you to do this in your current state. Your mind will manipulate the thought and twist it around so that you come out of the issue with no blame at all.

But even though the person might know, you should always tell them how you feel about it and how your mind will act and explain to them why they should wait for a better time because if you don't, then the responsibility will directly fall on you. You are not thinking straight when you are tired, angry, irritated or sick. Your mind does not process things the way it does when you are in a positive mood and that is not the demanders blame unless they realize that directly.

If you have gone through one of those times when you want to blame others for your mistakes then you should realize that everybody goes through that. It is not right nor is it fair. If you make a mistake then you should deal with consequences.

We all take risks, but we take a risk when we cross the street. The risk might not be great, but it remains a risk nonetheless.

Taking responsibility will work in your favor in many occasions because most of people find those who take responsibility for their actions honest and trustworthy. Being responsible for a problem does not mean that you are the one who caused it; it doesn't mean that others did not know what you might do and what might happen. It's completely unfair when you put someone else in your place when you are at fault.
